JULY 3RD 2010 - WATSEKA ILLINOIS PARADE

The Watseka/Iroquois County TEA Party participated in the July 3rd Parade. The theme this year was "heroes". The TEA Party's heroes were Betsy Ross (RoseMary Nixon), a soldier (Pete Offill) and a minister (Ron ). Thanks to the following people for their hard work and dedication to make the float a success. We could not have done it without you! : Doretta Corrie, Joann & Ron Kissick, Joe McCord, RoseMary and Annette Nixon, Pete and Barb Offill.
After the parade, the TEA Party held a rally at Kay Park. We had music, singing, speakers, and raffles. Pastor Ron led us in prayer. Joann Kissick, Joe McCord, and Barb Offill harmonized a song called, "If My People Would Pray". Then Joann read the history of the National Anthem leading Barb Offill into singing the first and fourth verses of the Star Spangled Banner. Our speaker was David McAloon from the Kankakee TEA Party group. It was a very enlightening and encouraging speech. Thank you David! We raffled off one of Watseka's very own artists, Joe McCord's paintings. She beautifully painted several Founding Father's portraits along with one of their quotes. A Patriotic basket was also raffled off. Mr. Chuck Garfield of Watseka was lucky enough to have won both items. He chose the "Ronald Reagan" painting. The weather was warm, sunny, with a slight breeze.
We're looking forward to next year's parade. Hope to see you at our next TEA Party rally in the fall. Check back later for details.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
